Employee benefits for US energy workforces
The benefits colleague your crew can message from the rig.
Answers from each person's own plan, at 2 a.m., in the app or on WhatsApp. And a dated record that holds the broker and carrier to what they agreed.
The ambulance company sent me a $2,400 bill
Hold off paying it until it's checked.
Ground ambulances aren't covered by the federal No Surprises Act, so a ground ambulance can bill you for more than your plan paid. Some states ban that, Texas among them, but state law usually reaches only insured plans.
- Answers cite the plan page
- Health details never sent over WhatsApp
- Keep your broker; nothing for them to log in to
- A flat fee per employee, paid by the employer
Day 9 of 14
Benefits questions don't wait for a shift change.
On a 14/14 rotation, half the year is spent on site. The questions come anyway: at night, from a rig, on patchy signal, about a bill, a scan or a card at the front desk.
Hers alone. HR gets a count, never the questions.

I'm struggling on this hitch
Rotations don't keep office hours.
Benefits questions arrive at night, from a rig, on patchy signal. The answer is an email to HR that waits until morning.
Crews message Roscoe on WhatsApp or in the app, at any hour. Voice notes are understood in 14 languages, and Roscoe replies in English, Spanish or Portuguese. Health detail stays in the secure app.
Try it now
Ask it what a crew member would.
The real assistant, on a fictional Texas drilling contractor's plans.
Live assistant on a fictional plan for Mesa Ridge Drilling. Not real insurance. Nothing you type is stored.
Hi, I'm Roscoe. Ask me anything about Mesa Ridge Drilling's benefits: medical, dental, vision, life and disability. I answer from the plan documents and show you the page.
Medical is only one of the benefits.
Most employees know their medical ID card and little else. Life insurance, disability and the EAP go unused until it's too late to plan around them.
Roscoe knows every line each person holds. Ask “what if I can't work for months?” and it lists each benefit that could help and how, then answers each from its own documents.
How it works
One request. Three people. Every step dated.
Adding a newborn to the plan, the most common request there is. Nobody chases anybody, and everyone can see where it is.

Can I add my son? He was born in August.

Amara asks Roscoe
In the app or on WhatsApp, in her own words. Roscoe explains the rule from her plan and fills in the request with her.
- 2
HR approves in one tap
HR sees the exact details in their chat and approves them. No forms, no forwarding, no re-typing.
- 3
The broker gets the email
Roscoe sends it to the broker's own mailbox with a case reference. Delivery and the reply are recorded against the request.
Amara sees each step in her chat. HR sees who has it and for how long. The broker needs nothing new.
Her conversation stays hers. HR sees the request's details to approve, never what she asked.
HR's Monday brief

Not a mock-up: this is the Monday brief Roscoe produces for HR, filled with a fictional employer.

Monday starts with the answer.
What needs a decision, what's stuck and with whom, what the broker is late on and how they've done over 90 days, and which renewal is coming. Emailed to HR every Monday, and always on this page.
Administrative records only. HR never sees an employee's conversations or medical details. The premium is paid
Rosters drift, and you pay for it.
The premium is paid for everyone the carrier has on the policy. Roscoe compares confirmed enrollments with your HR system whenever it syncs, so both kinds of mismatch are in front of you first: the person who thinks they're covered, and the premium for someone who's gone.
Crews come back with the rig count, too. Tell Roscoe “Omar is back on December 1” and it shows what that does before you confirm: his first start date kept, the broker asked to add him back, and what the ACA's 13-week rule means for his waiting period.

Your policy and your HR system disagree
2 open · fictionalChecked whenever your HR system syncs. Nothing here changes your policy: adding or removing somebody is a dated job for your broker, raised deliberately.
One person is on your payroll and not on the policy
Leavers stay on the plan and you keep paying their premium. Joiners are never added, and find out at the pharmacy counter.

Works with the broker you have
Keep the broker you trust.
Every request reaches their mailbox with a case reference and a date, and every reply is recorded. Nothing for them to log in to. You pay a flat fee per employee; brokers and carriers pay nothing.

Every answer has a source

A record nobody can rewrite
Requests, renewal steps and sends are recorded as they happen and can't be edited afterwards.
How to start
One cohort. One flat fee. A pilot you can measure.
- We read your plan documentsThe benefits guide, summaries of benefits and certificates Roscoe will answer from. Your HR team can check its answers before anyone is invited.
- We agree the routesWhich mailbox each request goes to, who approves what, and what your broker receives.
- We invite a first cohortWith success measures agreed in advance: questions answered, requests on time, roster gaps closed.
Do we keep our current broker?
Yes. Roscoe works with the broker you already have: requests reach their mailbox with a case reference and a date, and they never need to log in. If you'd like a specialist energy benefits broker instead, we can introduce one from our panel and plan the move around your renewal.
Which benefits does it cover?
Every line your employees have: medical (PPO or HDHP), dental, vision, life and AD&D, short- and long-term disability, critical illness and your EAP, and international medical (IPMI) for crews who work outside the US. Roscoe answers each from that plan's own documents, and knows which ones each person holds.
Can it answer questions about our own policies?
Yes. Add your employee handbook in Documents and Roscoe answers questions about PTO, sick pay, leave and your 401(k) or pension from it, with the page. Nothing is answered from it until HR checks what Roscoe read and switches it on.
What does it cost?
A flat fee per employee per month, paid by the employer and disclosed in full, plus implementation. It never depends on what coverage is placed, and brokers and carriers don't pay us. We share the numbers in a briefing, because they depend on the size and spread of your workforce.
Does Roscoe decide what's covered?
No. Roscoe explains your reviewed plan documents and cites them. Coverage and claim decisions stay with the carrier, and emergencies go to 911.
What do employees need to install?
Nothing new. They can use the web app, or connect WhatsApp from Settings and message Roscoe like a colleague.
Which languages does it speak?
Voice notes are understood in 14 languages, and Roscoe replies in English, Spanish or Portuguese.
What's live today?
Roscoe is opening pilots with US energy employers. Each part (the employee app, WhatsApp, the Monday brief, renewal emails to the broker) is switched on per pilot once the plan documents and broker routes are reviewed.
